Fayetteville, PA – A spy thriller with a comic twist lands at Totem Pole Playhouse for just 12 performances! The 39 Steps, adapted from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 classic film, blends murder mystery with rapid-fire comedy and is guaranteed to leave audiences laughing, gasping—and guessing.
Directed by Broadway veteran Clayton Phillips (5 Broadway shows, 4 national tours), this zany production features just four actors playing over 100 characters with lightning speed and nonstop laughs.
Leading the cast is Damon Bonetti (Walnut Street Theatre, Totem Pole’s Tuesdays with Morrie), joined by Mallory Hawks (Off-Broadway: Seussical; Totem Pole’s Clue: On Stage), Nicholas Wilder (National Tour: The 39 Steps), and J.B. McLendon (Broadway: Dame Edna’s Royal Tour). These talented performers switch accents, costumes, and personalities in a flash, delivering a live theatre experience like no other.

Backed by an expert creative team including Jonathan Dahm Robertson (Scenic Design), Ryan B. Gibbs (Lighting), Azaria Jade Rubio (Costumes), and Kate Wecker (Sound), The 39 Steps transforms the Totem Pole stage into train stations, moors, manors, and more—often in seconds. Over 22 local crew, designers, and technicians help bring the visual magic to life.
“If you loved Clue or Baskerville, or if you’re into Only Murders in the Building or Knives Out, this is your kind of night out,” says Totem Pole Artistic Director Ryan B. Gibbs. “It’s theatrical, it’s funny, and it’s absolutely relentless in the best way.”
