Here’s the announced schedule:
- Sun., Nov. 10, 4 PM – Tempesta di Mare: Philadelphia’s premiere early music ensemble, lauded for its “abundant energy, immaculate ensemble, and undeniable sense of purpose,” brings madrigals and more to Gettysburg for the first time.
- Sun., Nov. 17, 4 PM – Muzyka – Chamber music from Soviet Russia: Elly Toyada (violin), Ismar Gomes (cello), Leah Crowne (soprano), and Scott Crowne (piano) perform music by Russian composers of the 20th century. Some of our favorite performers in a magnificent program!
- Sun., Dec. 1, 7:30 PM – Advent Vespers: Candlelit prayer, with music of hope and expectation from four centuries, led by the Schola Cantorum of Gettysburg.
- Sun., Dec. 15, 7 PM – Christmas Offering: Our annual sampler of Christmas music by some of our favorite performers – the Gettysburg Children’s Choir, Wayne Hill, Susan Hochmiller, Teresa Bowers, Jonathan Noel, and Steven Marx, and of course, carol singing by all present. This year, the music will explore the gifts of the Virgin Mary.
- Sun., Jan. 12, 4 PM – Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra Goes Baroque: A smaller group in an intimate performance of music from the 18th century – old and new favorites! Special guest soloists: Margaret Folkemer, soprano, and Elly Toyada, violinist.
- Sat., Jan. 18, 4 PM – Essence of Joy: The Penn State Gospel Choir returns, now with a national and global reputation, under the direction of Anthony Leach. Prepare for your spirits to be raised!
- Fri., Jan. 24, 7:30 PM – Robert Burns Night: Celebrating the birthday of the national poet of Scotland with music and poetry, featuring Cormorant’s Fancy and Jeffrey Greenawalt.
- Sat., Feb. 8, 4 PM – Bardin-Niskala Duo: This cello/piano duo is at the cutting edge of contemporary music, featuring and commissioning compositions from around the world, with videos of the composers introducing pieces exploring homeland, community, and belonging.
- Sun., March 23, 4 PM – Harp and Organ: Harpist Elizabeth Asmus joins Cathy Elkiss, the seminary organist, for a celestial performance!
- Sun., April 13, 4 PM – Passion Sunday Vespers: The Schola Cantorum returns with a service of Evening Prayer focusing on the crucifixion of Christ and its benefits, as presented by the greatest composers of the last four centuries.
- Sun., April 27, 4 PM – Gettysburg Children’s Choir: Hosting the closing concert of this group’s season, featuring young area musicians of amazing virtuosity.
- Sun., May 11, 4 PM – Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra: A Mother’s Day tradition! Peter Sirotin returns as soloist for the Sibelius Violin Concerto, with more amazing performances from the orchestra.
- June 4-8 – Gettysburg Brass Band Festival: Bands from across the United States perform days of wonderful music at our outdoor pavilion and around town.
