NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Central PA will launch its fall schedule of free educational programs and support groups this September, offering resources for both individuals living with mental health conditions and the families who support them.
The organization will host two of its signature programs—Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer—along with ongoing support groups designed to foster connection and reduce stigma.
Family-to-Family is an eight-session course tailored for family members, partners, and friends of individuals living with mental illness. Participants will learn practical communication strategies, problem-solving tools, and self-care techniques, while also gaining a deeper understanding of how to advocate effectively for their loved ones.
Peer-to-Peer, also an eight-session program, is designed for adults navigating their own mental health journeys. The course provides a safe and supportive space to build coping skills, strengthen resilience, and find empowerment through shared experiences.
In addition to these structured programs, NAMI Central PA will continue offering Connections Support Groups and Family Support Groups. Connections groups meet weekly and provide peer-led, judgment-free spaces where individuals can share their challenges and successes. Family groups meet monthly and are designed for relatives and loved ones seeking encouragement, strength, and understanding from others who share similar experiences.
All programs are led by trained volunteers who bring lived experience to the table, making the sessions relatable and practical. Both virtual and in-person options may be available, allowing more community members to participate.
NAMI Central PA emphasizes that all programs are free, though advance registration is required.
Programs begin in September, and residents across the region are encouraged to take part.
