New “glamping” options at PA State Parks

Pennsylvania has introduced glamorous camping — or glamping — at eight state parks, offering visitors a new way to enjoy the outdoors with modern comforts. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) announced the debut of 61 safari-style tents developed in partnership with Timberline Glamping Co., with reservations now open for spring 2026.

The new sites feature spacious canvas tents with queen- or king-sized beds, ceiling fans, lighting, coffee makers, mini-fridges, and comfortable furnishings. Exteriors are treated for weather resistance, and heating and air-conditioning are being added. Each site also includes fire pits, hammocks, string lights, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and games like cornhole. Bathrooms remain shared facilities within the park.

The initiative is part of a national trend toward upscale camping options. State officials said the program aims to make parks more welcoming to travelers who might not normally consider overnight stays, while generating revenue for future park improvements. Rates range from $130 to over $200 per night, depending on the season and day of the week. Rentals require a minimum of one night on weekdays and two nights on weekends or federal holidays.

Glamping sites are now available at French Creek, Hickory Run, Promised Land, Poe Valley, Hills Creek, Laurel Hill, Pymatuning, and Codorus State Parks. For Adams County residents, the closest location is Codorus, just south of Hanover, where the glamping season runs from April 10 through October 31.
