Jessica Rudy to be Director of Marketing and Group Sales at the Gettysburg Majestic Theater

Jessica Rudy has been appointed to succeed Jean Grubesky as Director of Marketing and Group Sales at the Gettysburg Majestic Theater.

Rudy has served as the Majestic Theater’s Administrative Services Assistant since January 2018.

Collaborating for Youth Leadership Camp Announced

Gettysburg Collaborating for Youth (CFY) is offering a youth leadership camp this summer. The camp will run June 24-27 at Camp Thompson in Gardners and is open to students in 9th to 12th grades.

The camp promotes a structured environment and teaches learning skills including time management, leading organized activities, camp service projects, public speaking, and listening.

Lookenbill Runs for McSherrystown Borough Council

Mark Lookenbill, an insurance agent, is running for McSherrystown Borough Council.  

Long-term Parking Spaces to be Available in Gettysburg

About 100 parking spaces in Gettysburg will be marked with stickers designating them as long term parking.

By paying $35 per month a person can park in any of those meters that are open.

The program will be available during a six-month trial period beginning May 1.

More Cuts at SCCAP

South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP) are again experiencing severe government funding cuts causing the organization to further reduce services.

The two homeless shelters have been impacted. Beginning May 12, SCCAP will close the shelters between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The organization is working to raise more funds but has a $100,000 budget shortfall.

GNMP Acting Superintendent Appointed

Heister

Kristina Heister has been appointed as acting superintendent of Gettysburg National Military Park and Eisenhower National Historic Site. She will serve in this position until August 10.

Heister currently serves as the superintendent of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in New York State.

A series of acting superintendents have been appointed at the park over the past years.
