
– Sophomore Sam Nonemaker (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) was named the Centennial Conference Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week for the second time this season it was announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Nonemaker led a dominant win by Gettysburg College against Catholic University by claiming three individual wins and helping the 200 medley relay team claim victory. He cruised to wins in the 100 breast (1:00.31) and 100 free (47.93) before touching the wall first in the 200 IM (1:59.64). The sophomore set the tone for the meet by anchoring the 200 medley relay squad, which bested the field by nearly five seconds with a mark of 1:35.73.
Nonemaker has won a dozen individual events this season and owns the team’s top time in the 200 free (1:43.23). He also ranks second on the team in the 50 free (21.17), 100 free (46.28), 100 breast (58.17), and 200 IM (1:56.95). Nonemaker was named CC Swimmer of the Week for the first time on Nov. 19, 2019.
Gettysburg (6-0, 3-0 CC) aims to remain unbeaten when it visits the University of Mary Washington (5-3, 3-0 CAC) for a non-conference dual on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m.
