Allan W. “Al” Graupner, age 84 of Fairfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with his family by his side.
Born July 10, 1941, in Cicero, IL, he was the son of the late Harold G. & Lucille (Haas) Graupner. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. Al served in various capacities with American President Lines, a shipping and transportation company, for many years, retiring as the company’s traffic manager. In his retirement years, Al was employed at the Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine for fourteen years and as the gatekeeper at the Grotto, both in Emmitsburg, MD.
He enjoyed serving the community with Big Brothers and the Special Olympics, along with hiking, biking, and woodworking.
Al is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine “Cathy” (Ames) Graupner, four children, Theresa Graupner and Michele Graupner, both of Fairfield, Julie Hebert of Frederick, MD, and Stephen Graupner of Birmingham, AL, five grandchildren, Corey, Caley, Colton, Brandi and Phoebe and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Karen Sirovatka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, MD. Viewing hours will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg, PA. Interment with full military honors will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
