Obituary: Benjamin T. Rodemaker

Benjamin T. Rodemaker, 96, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community.

He was born on October 6, 1929, in New Bloomfield to the late Benjamin H. and Alice E. (Fawver) Rodemaker. Ben was the widower of Pauline (Wanamaker) Rodemaker to whom he had been married for 45 years.

Benjamin honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from September of 1951 through June of 1953. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service. Ben was formerly employed by Hair Brothers and Co., where he repaired appliances, Erie Frequency Control, where he performed maintenance on the facility, and the United States Postal Service, where he performed maintenance for 25 years before his eventual retirement. Benjamin was a life member of the New Bloomfield and Shermans Dale Fire Departments. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge #761 in Carlisle, VFW Post #7463 in New Bloomfield, American Legion Post 101 in Carlisle, and Disabled American Veterans Post 50 in Carlisle.

Benjamin is survived by his loving daughter, Beverly J. (husband Roy) Hinson of Mt. Holly Springs; two grandchildren, Adam W. (wife Meredith) Hoerner of Delaware and Benjamin J. Hoerner of Carlisle. In addition to his wife and his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Gloria J. Ruggles, and his step-son, Ronald G. Buchter.
