Betty Ann Leatherman, 84, of Fairfield, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
Born August 19, 1941, in Fairfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester A. & Margaret A. (Stahley) Chapman.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Donald U. Leatherman, who died on March 31, 2021.
She was a lifelong member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg, MD.
Betty worked at the Gettysburg Shoe Factory, Musselman’s Canning Co., and Mountain Orchard, Inc. until 1987. In September 1987, she started to provide childcare services to help local area working families until her retirement in 2015.
Betty found much joy in watching over the nineteen children she provided care for grow up and become adults. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Davis (Jeff) of Orrtanna, PA, and Brenda Snyder (Scott) of Gettysburg, five grandchildren, David Leatherman, Daniel Ohler (April), Ryan Davis (Nikki), Kevin Ohler, and Erica Cohan (Dave), and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert Leatherman, and her sister, Dorothy Wagerman. At Betty’s request, there will not be a Viewing. A brief graveside service will take place at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Elias Lutheran Church Cemetery, Emmitsburg, MD, with Pastor Joe Herb officiating.
