Beverly J. Reed, 97, formerly of Carroll Valley, PA, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg, PA.
She was born April 30, 1928, in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of the late Sherman and Emma (Debolt) Brownewell. Her husband, Ermel E. Ree, died in 2012.
Mrs. Reed grew up in Hammond, IN, where in her early years she was a switchboard operator. However, after moving to the Fairfield area, she became a full-time homemaker and a part-time teacher’s aid for the home economics department at Fairfield High School. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader, but most of all she loved time with her family.
Beverly is survived by six children; Sandra Mossop and her husband John of Fairfield, PA, Lee Reed of Hagerstown, MD, Kay Hammett and her husband David of East Lyme, CT, Beth Hartzell and her husband Elliot of Aspers, PA, Byron Reed and his wife Cathy of New Tripoli, PA, Dale Reed and his wife Judy of York Springs, PA, eight grandchildren; Jennifer Naugle, Michael Brent, Matthew Hammett, Jonathon Hammett, Christina Harkins, Erin Hartzell, Jessica Reed, Breanna Reed, and numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Hershey Cemetery, Hershey, PA.
