
Born October 29, 1957 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Charles and Annette (Andrews) Bennett. He was the husband of Joan E. (Abrams) Bennett of Fairfield, PA to whom he was married to for 22 years.
Mr. Bennett was a friend of First Baptist Church of Gettysburg. He worked for eighteen years at R.E. Michel Company as a counter salesman. He was a baritone singer and drummer and enjoyed performing. He loved playing Scrabble, which he was difficult to beat, watched all sports, including football, ice hockey, NASCAR, coached a church softball team, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. His passion was history, especially World War II and the Civil War with a special expertise in Gettysburg and Antietam Battlefields.
He was predeceased by his half brother, David Sean Bennett. In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by four step-siblings, Kerry (Pat) Rice, Kathy Burden, Jim (Mary) Burden, Leslie Askew, cousins, Bob (Lynn) Andrews, Jr., Mary Ellen (Mike) Burns, Harriet (Doug) Case, Marsha Scott, many nieces and nephews, and his loyal cat, Tillie.
A Memorial Celebration of Life for Bruce will be held, 11 AM, Saturday, October 7th at the First Baptist Church of Gettysburg, 1015 Chambersburg Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325 with Rev. Sean Fitzgerald officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the FBCG (Relief Team), same address as above.
