C. William “Bill” DeHaas, 89 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away at the Gettysburg Hospital on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Bill was born in Clinton County, PA, on January 12, 1936, the son of the late Clyde C. & Dorothy (Williams) DeHaas. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley K. DeHaas, who died in June 2024.
Bill was a 1953 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Fire Department. Bill had worked for many years with the Adams County National Bank and, in his retirement years, worked at the York and Hanover Wal-Marts and Strickland Enterprises in Gettysburg. He is survived by three children, John DeHaas and his wife Carol of York, PA, Marsha Boehner and Kristina DeHaas, both of Gettysburg, five grandchildren, Britney, Andrew, Allison, Liz, and Jim, four great-grandchildren, Harlee, Jax, Addie, and Lincoln. Bill was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Bayer, a brother, John DeHaas, and a sister, H. Louise Devitt.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with the Rev. Andrew Geib, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
