Calvin Yox (September 1, 1922 – November 16, 2020)
Calvin V. Yox, age 98, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. He was the loving husband of the late Lydia (Street) Yox; who passed away on March 28, 2020.
Calvin was born in Reisterstown MD on September 1, 1922 and was the son of the late Sadie M. (Yox) Luers. He graduated from Westminster High School class of 1940 and proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged. He worked for Black and Decker Inc. for over 31 years prior to retiring. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters Vicki M. Wolf of Westminster MD and Susan L. Kirby and her husband Wesley of Finksburg MD; his stepson George I. Merryman and his wife Patricia of Hanover; his son-in-law David Jenkins of The Villages FL; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert Luers. He was predeceased by stepdaughter, Claudia Jenkins; sister Margaret Anne Buffington; and brothers Thomas Luers and Paul Luers.
Services and interment are being held privately by the family under the direction of Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., of McSherrystown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Gabriel Project, 5055 Grandview Rd., Hanover Pa 17331.
