Charles “Dick” L. Wright, Sr., age 89 of Newburg, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Shippensburg Health Care Center. He was born on January 10, 1937, at home in Newville, son of the late Charles S. and Edith M. (Holtry) Wright. He was a long-distance truck driver for many years and also a diesel mechanic for HC Gabler Trucking. He was a life member of the Minnequa Social Club. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, watching NASCAR racing, wrestling, and old-time westerns. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking his family to Indian River, Delaware, for camping trips.
He is survived by his children, Karen A. (Ronald) Weagley, Wanda K. (Gregory) Carroll, Charles L. (Linda) Wright, Jr., and Sondra Robinson; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Thelma Holtry, Curvey Duncan, Judy Mason, Sandra Moffat; and brothers, George Wright, David Wright, and Dennis Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patsy L. (Farner) Wright; son, Brian E. Wright; Son-in-law, Scott J. Robinson; sister, Helen M. Schaeffer; and brothers, Norman E. Wright and Gary L. Wright.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, PA, with Pastor J. R. Wells officiating. Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 51 Asper Drive in Shippensburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a 12:00 pm funeral service. Interment will be in Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
