It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Charlotte Lucille Howard (Charlotte Lucille Straub), of Joppa, MD.
Charlotte passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at her granddaughter & grandson-in-Law’s (Karmyn & John) home in Fairfield, PA, at the age of 83. She was surrounded by
her loving family.
Born on December 14, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Hilda Lucille Straub (Clemens) and Edwin Warfield Straub.
Charlotte was known for her legendary cooking, her infectious laugh, her tremendous sense of humor, a fearless warrior spirit, selfless gift giving, a welcoming open door policy for just about anyone, but certainly her friends and family, and a highly passionate and vocal Orioles & Ravens fan. Charlotte had a rare gift for making people feel welcomed and loved. She spent her days creating a home filled with love, happiness, fun, and gracious hospitality.
Charlotte is survived by her sister Susan Piazza; loving sons Robert Koon, Jr, Greg Koon and Dale Howard; Daughter-in-Law Stephanie Koon (whom Charlotte considered her daughter); her adoring grandchildren Kylee, Karmyn, Kolten, Alex, Reece and Meghan; her precious great grandchildren Harper, Hadley and Miles; Grandson’s-in-Law Ryan, John and Jonathan; Granddaughter-in-Law Taylor and an extensive circle of extended family and friends.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Nelson Howard, Jr., her parents Hilda and Edwin Straub, and her siblings Sissy, Charles, Stanley and Donna.
Charlotte requested to be cremated. Charlotte’s ashes will be buried next to her loving husband at Delaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, MD, with a Celebration of Life to follow (Date, Times & Locations TBD).
