Deborah C. Slothour, 78, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after a long illness. She was born January 20, 1948, in Mechanicsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Robert S. & Phyllis (Bell) Miller.
Deborah was a 1965 graduate of Gettysburg High School, following graduation she began her career working at The Hoffman Home for Youth for ten years, then The Gettysburg Hospital for ten years and retired from Adams Electric Co-operative after twenty-seven years, where she was responsible for purchasing and accounting oversight of the Engineering Dept.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arendtsville, PA. Deborah enjoyed traveling to the National Parks in the western United States and volunteering with the Adams County SPCA.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond E. Slothour, Sr. step-children, Cathy Moore and her husband Michael of York, PA, Raymond E. “Randy” Slothour, Jr. and his wife Jodie of New Oxford, PA, step-grandson, Jeffrey Crotsley, three step-great grandchildren, Wyatt, Payton and Taryn Crotsley, a sister, Victoria Deardorff and her husband Gary of Biglerville, PA, a brother, Dawson D. Miller of Gettysburg, PA, a sister-in-law, Beverly A. Miller of Dover, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. Deborah was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Joyce Lutian, and a brother, Robert S. Miller, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA, with the Rev. Heather Kurtz officiating. Interment will follow the services in Fairview Cemetery in Arendtsville, PA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg.
