Derrick graduated from Gettysburg Area High School, where he played football and basketball and ran track and field. He received many recognitions in these sports. He held a record in the high jump for jumping 6’8″ in his senior year and continues to hold that record.

Derrick enjoyed making those around him laugh and making it known that he was around. He enjoyed being the center of attention. His favorite football teams were the 49ers and Penn State. Derrick and his daughter Mimi enjoyed shopping together, and they both shared the same love for Penn State football as well as sneakers.

Derrick was lovingly raised by his mother, whom preceded him in death, as well as his paternal grandfather, AKA his hero, Roosevelt “Slim” Sistrunk, and maternal grandmother Gladys V. Howard.

Derrick is survived by his wife, Mackenzie (Ruhland) Sistrunk, his three beautiful daughters, Taryn Sistrunk (grandson Elias), Mikaela, most lovingly known as “Mimi” Sistrunk, and Reagan Sistrunk, his son, Eziekiel Sistrunk, and stepson Jaxson Guinn.

Three brothers, Terry Sistrunk Jr., D’Angelo Howard, and Eric Sistrunk. And as he would lovingly say it, “His little sister” Victoria Sistrunk. His two nieces, Amaya Hearld and Lakari Sistrunk, and six nephews: Kedrin Sistrunk Evans, Tymire Washington, Amari Sistrunk, Tre Hearld, Landry Sistrunk, and Lemiere Sistrunk.

He is also survived by his father, Terry Sistrunk Sr., paternal grandmother, Shirley Sistrunk, uncles: Freddy Sistrunk, Jeffrey Sistrunk (Patricia Sistrunk), and Timothy Singleton (Lisa Singleton), and his aunt Sonya Snook.

Several maternal aunts and uncles: Randolph Howard, Ronnie Howard, Mary Howard, Jean Howard Green, Jackie Howard, and Virginia Howard. Several cousins who loved and adored him.
