Donald L. Neely, 90, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 24, 1936, in Fairfield, PA, the son of Henry and Mary Reed Neely. Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Snyder Neely.
Donald was a graduate of Fairfield High School. He then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Iowa – BB 61. Following his service, he graduated from Williamsport Technical Institute as an Electronics Technician. He then moved to State College, PA, and worked at the Penn State University Ordnance Research Laboratory. Later, after moving back to Gettysburg, he was employed at Westinghouse (which became Schindler) Elevator Company until his retirement.
Don was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Gettysburg, PA, where he served on the board as a trustee. He was a good Christian man who will be missed for his light-hearted humor and friendly conversation.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Neely is survived by three children: David Neely and his wife Bali of Woodlyn, PA, Cynthia Schulteis and her husband Hans of New Oxford, PA, Brian Neely and his wife Tashia of Gettysburg, PA, four grandchildren: Sophia Kissner, Jackson Neely, William Neely, and Daniel Neely. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Neely.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Gettysburg with his pastor and friend, Rev. Bob Gray, officiating. Viewing and family condolences will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery following the services.
