She was born October 18, 1926 in Gettysburg, PA, the daughter of the late Lester and Alverta Babylon Wherley. She was predeceased by her husband, Bryant William Wortz.
Dorothy was a member of Mt. Joy Lutheran Church. Early in her life she worked at G.C. Murphyâs in Gettysburg decorating the front windows. Later she was employed for many years at Fantasyland in various positions and then worked as the manager of the waterslide at the Granite Hill campground. Mrs. Wortz was a former member of the Gettysburg Moose and the Gettysburg Elks, and was a Brownie Troop leader at St. Francis Church in Gettysburg. She enjoyed travel, dancing, music and any kind of automobile racing.
Mrs. Wortz is survived by a son, Ronald Wortz and his wife Dianne of Minneapolis, MN; two granddaughters, Natalie and Alison Wortz; a brother, James Wherley of Gettysburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Harold and Marlin Wherley, and a sister, Belle Casciani.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM from Mt. Joy Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Naschke officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Mt.
