Obituary: Dorothy E Held

“Dorothy Evelyn Held passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2023 at The Gardens of Gettysburg. She was born in Lancaster, PA on November 8, 1927, the daughter of Herman R. Helfer and Daisy O. Helfer of York, PA. She was the devoted wife of John T. Held, who pre-deceased her. She is survived by a brother, Donald W. Helfer and two sons, Michael J. Held of Las Vegas and Karl E. Held of Gettysburg.

Dottie enjoyed the arts including painting, drawing, playing the flute and singing in the Christ Lutheran Church choir for forty years.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 30 Chambersburg St. in Gettysburg, followed by a luncheon. The service will be officiated by her pastor, the Rev. Stephen Herr. The burial will follow at Mt. Joy Lutheran Church, Taneytown Rd, Gettysburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, ℅ Financial Secretary, 44 Chambersburg St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.”
