Obituary: Dorothy I. Shaffer

Dorothy I. Shaffer, age 90 of Biglerville, passed away July 14, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born November 25, 1934, in Fairfield to the late George and Ethel (Warren) McGlaughlin.

Dorothy retired from Mussleman’s, attended Bethel Assembly of God Church in Littlestown, enjoyed fishing and camping at Indian River, and crocheting, but most of all, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald G. Shaffer; children, Kathy Morrow, Wayne Shaffer and Kay Redding and husband, Donald, all of Biglerville; grandchildren, Matthew Morrow and wife, Jen, Micah Morrow and wife, Bekah, Aimee Worth and husband, Cameron, Michael Shaffer and significant other, Christina, Ryan Shaffer and wife, April and Cody Redding; 14 great-grandchildren and siblings, Eugene McGlaughlin and wife Maysie of Biglerville, James McGlaughlin (Margy Topper) of Gettysburg and Wanda Sheaffer and husband, Garry of Gettysburg. Dorothy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Natasha Redding; son-in-law, Ken Morrow; and sister-in-law, Jan McGlaughlin.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., located at 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the memorial service. Pastor Garry Sheaffer and Pastor Peter Yannotta will officiate the service.
