Dave’s life was defined by his calling, his family, and his faith in Jesus. In fact, in his last days, even through the debilitating fog of Alzheimer’s, he only wanted to hear, speak and sing about Jesus. On October 14, 1978, David was born again after hearing the testimony of a patient who miraculously stopped opioid addiction with no withdrawal symptoms. David viewed his vocation as a physician as his calling to partner with the Great Physician. He was a gifted and compassionate doctor. He made time to listen to his patients and worked tirelessly to diagnose and treat their bodies and minister to their spirits as well. David made the most of his sharp mind and was fully in his element helping scared and sick people. He loved learning new treatments, techniques, and philosophies in medicine.

David loved his wife from their very first date. They shared many travel adventures throughout their 55-year marriage. David loved to teach his children and neighborhood kids to swim. He valued education and served on the board of the Christian School of York, where all three of his children attended. His residency in Pittsburgh made him a lifelong Steelers fan. David adored going to the beach with his children, where he would slather on sunscreen and build sand castles and body surf until dinner. A day for Dave was incomplete without a bowl of fresh fruit or ice cream, or better yet, both.
