Obituary: Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Dougherty

Elizabeth “Betsy” Haave Dougherty passed away peacefully August 21, 2024, at Paramount Senior Living with family at her side. She was born in Washington, D.C. on November 29, 1946 and lived most of her life in Montgomery County, Maryland. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1968. She taught elementary school in Montgomery County for 38 years, retiring in 2005 and moving to Gettysburg, PA. She was an avid Redskin fan and participated in Co-Rec sports in Montgomery County where she met her husband.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jerry; stepdaughters, Erin Bosak (Randy) and Meghan Griffenhagen ( Jason) and grandchildren Aidan & Colin Bosak and Sean Griffenhagen.

A celebration of Betsy’s life will be held in the spring.
