Elmer L. Stone, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, in his home. He was born May 27, 1940, in Carlisle, to the late Lester and Lillian (Toston) Stone.
Elmer retired from the Frog, Switch & Manufacturing Company after 37 years of employment. Elmer delivered wood and coal when he was not working at his primary job. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found working outside or just enjoying some relaxation on his porch.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda L. (Arnold) Stone of Carlisle; three step-children, Kimberly Hobbs (Companion Brad) of Missouri, Robert Hostler Sr. of Carlisle, and Jody (wife Barbara) Knepp of Lewistown; two siblings, Edna Rupp of Carlisle and Mildred Stone of Newville; thirteen grandchildren; forty two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved poodles, Chippy and BJ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepson, John W. Hostler; five brothers, Lester Jr., John, Chester, Bruce, and Russell Stone; and one sister, Ruth Stone.
At Elmer’s request, no viewing or services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs.
