Eugene E. “Gene” McGlaughlin. Age 93 of Biglerville, passed away January 18, 2026, at home. He was born November 21, 193,2 in Fairfield to the late George Elmer and Ethel Irene (Warren) McGlaughlin. Gene was a 1951 graduate of Gettysburg High School.
Gene worked in the fruit industry and worked for CH Musselman Company for 33 years and the Penn State Fruit Research Extension Center for 15 years. He was a member of the Mt Carmel Community Church and was a life member of the Adams County Fish and Game. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, loved being outdoors, taking vacations with his family, and loved spending time with his grandson. He enjoyed working his small farm, where he was a “Dr. Dolittle” with his rabbit and other animals. What he couldn’t grow in his garden, mushrooms, he hunted for in the woods. Gene enjoyed high school and Penn State wrestling and football.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Maysie E. (Shaffer) McGlaughlin; children, Sherry Yeingst (Tim Yeingst), Terry McGlaughlin (Terry Hoffman), and Kelley McGlaughlin (David Doersom); grandson, Devin McGlaughlin and siblings, Jim McGlaughlin (Margie Topper) and Wanda Sheaffer (Garry Sheaffer), and brother-in-law, Donald Shaffer. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Tracy McGlaughlin, and sister, Dorothy Shaffer.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville. At Gene’s request, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 12 pm at the funeral home. A visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the memorial service. Rev. Laura Bulger and Garry Shaffer will officiate the service.
