He was born May 27, 1940 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late Charles and Kathryn Spangler Hartlaub. Gene is survived by his wife Doris Sultzbaugh Hartlaub.
Mr. Hartlaub attended Hereford High School. Early in his life he was employed as a well driller. But for 39 years until his retirement in 2010 he was the Transportation Department Shop Foreman for McDonogh School in Baltimore, MD. Gene loved fishing and his trips to Canada, watching Western movies and working in his yard.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hartlaub is survived by a son, Scott Hartlaub and his wife Jennifer of Gettysburg, PA, four grandchildren: Kenneth R. Hartlaub and his wife Madison, Kathryn E. Hartlaub, Robert A. Rosensteel and his wife Bobbie, Jacob R. Murtoff, and a brother, Larry Zile and his wife Linda of The Villages, FL.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
