Freda M. Zeigler, 92 of Aspers, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 8, 2026, alongside her beloved husband of 62 years, Tom. Freda was born in Mesa, Idaho, on August 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Lloyd A. & Bernice I. (Kemper) Keckler. She was a 1951 graduate of York Springs High School, where she was a cheerleader and member of the girls’ softball team.
For most of her 92 years, she functioned as household executive and supreme commander of the Zeigler family. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Freda was the corporate secretary for the family business, Zeigler Bros., Inc., located in Gardners, PA. During those years, she traveled alongside her husband, who was the company president, to various countries such as Ecuador, Egypt, China, and throughout Europe. She was a member of the Upper Adams Jayceettes and American Legion Post #262 in Biglerville, PA.
Freda was an active reader and loved doing crossword puzzles, often in the presence of a good glass of wine, and in her prime, she could dance “the twist” with the best of them. She loved visiting their vacation home in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Perhaps her most joyous moments were spending time with her four sons, her daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Thomas R. Zeigler, Freda is survived by her sons, Gary W. Aldinger, Kenneth L. Aldinger, Timothy M. Zeigler, and Matthew P. Zeigler, along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Ermalee (Keckler) Shindler, Gary, Wilmer and Samuel Keckler.
Per the wishes of Freda, funeral services will be for her immediate family. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, York Springs, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, https://www.adamscountyspca.org/.
