Gail P. Hovis, 71, of Dover, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York, PA, after a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1954, in Monticello, New York, to the late William and Gwendolyn (Leath) Rees.
Gail worked as a licensed Practical Nurse for Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA, Health South Rehab in Mechanicsburg, and also as an in-home service. Gail later retired from PNC bank where she worked in customer service. She was involved in the Mechanicsburg PTO, Mechanicsburg Jacetts, and Dover Area High School Band Boosters. Gail was a dedicated member of the Mechanicsburg Ambulance and Silver Spring Ambulance for over 15 years, serving the citizens of Central, PA, with honor.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 52 years, Marlin L. Hovis of Dover, PA; other surviving family members, Justin R. Hovis of Dover, Jill Barry (Scott) of Lafayette, NJ, and Adria Howe (Ken) of Cleveland, OH; grandchild, Braydon Hovis; and daughter-in-law, Jessica Heavner, formerly Hovis.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc, 501 Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A social gathering will follow the services.
