Obituary: Gary R. Whitver

Gary R. Whitver, 71 of Gettysburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after a long illness.

Born August 26, 1954, in Jefferson, Iowa, he was the son of the late Robert & Vicki (Ludwig) Whitver. Gary retired after 40 years as a sales consultant at Morton Building.

He was a member of the Sportsman’s Club of Mummasburg and was a friend of Bill W for 35 years. Gary is survived by his wife, Laura R. (Carson) Whitver, four children, Rob Whitver (Christy) of Powhatan, VA, Samantha Hill (Damian) of Hamilton, Ohio, Jess Welborn (Trista) of McSherrystown, PA and Bill Welborn (Katie) Gettysburg, PA, seven grandchildren, Dillian, James, Ben and Imani Whitver, Abagail (Brendan) Olinski, Collin Hill and Kaylee (Tyler) Martin, a great granddaughter, Dalphine Whitver, five siblings, Sue Weiss (Dave) of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Tom Whitver of Story City, IA, Ed Whitver (Deb) of Grimes, IA, Brian Whitver (Jodi) of LeMars, IA and Jan Whitver of Jefferson, IA.

In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by a brother, Dick Whitver, sister-in-law, Dorothy Whitver and his in-laws, Ira and Louise Carson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
