Obituary: Gerald K. Worthing

Gerald K. “Jerry” Worthing, 72, of Littlestown, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. Born June 11, 1953, in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the son of the late Richard Keith and Beverly Jean (Tramper) Worthing.

Jerry attended Kingsley High School and spent many years working as a maintenance man for Penn Wood Products. He was gifted with his hands and had a remarkable ability to troubleshoot and repair nearly anything imaginable. Woodworking was one of his greatest talents and passions, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He had a deep love for animals, nature, family, and friends. Jerry will be remembered as a patient, calm, kind, and loving man whose gentle spirit touched many lives. He was also known for his corny jokes and playful sense of humor, often keeping those around him smiling with his practical jokes and quick wit.

He is survived by his children, Christopher G. Worthing, Marilyn J. Conover, and Robert K. Worthing; his grandchildren, Cody Cook and Garnet Jones; his brother and dear friend, J. Russell Laughlin; a sister, Diane Bembeneck; two brothers, Ken Worthing and wife Monique, Richard Worthing, Jr. and wife Judy; and sister-in-law, Karen Worthing.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Worthing.

Jerry’s kindness, craftsmanship, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private burial will take place at Two Taverns Cemetery in Gettysburg. Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor is handling the arrangements.
