Obituary: Glenn ‘Skip’ Heller



Glenn “Skip” Heller passed away on Sunday at Paramount Sr. Living just three days after his 85th birthday.

He was born in Adams County on May 9, 1939 to the late Glenn W. and Anna (Wilson) Heller. Skip graduated from Gettysburg High School where he met his wife, Nancy, and they have shared almost sixty-five years of marriage.

Skip worked in the autoparts business for twenty-some years and retired from Schindler Elevator in 2002.

Skip spent a lot of his spare time working in his wood workshop making furniture, picture frames and many small projects for family and friends. He enjoyed giving some of his handiwork to charities. He was involved with the Cashtown Lions Club where he was named Lion of the Year several times and was also awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He and Nancy enjoyed many bus trips and group tours all over the United States and a European trip.

He is survived by son, Greg (Sandy), Newville, PA; daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Oler, Bluffton, SC and grandchildren, Eston Heller, Seth (Morgan) Heller and Alexandra (Stefan) Karkuff and great grandsons, James and Patrick Heller and Samuel Karkuff and siblings Anna Koenig, Janet (Lee) Hartman and Kathy Meyers. He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Creager.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at Monahan Funeral Home, Carlisle St., Gettysburg on Monday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. followed by his service at 11:00 a,m, from the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
