Grayson Donald Starner, 96, of Gardners, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Oak Leaf Manor North Nursing Home in Landisville, PA. Grayson was born on December 3, 1928, in Gardners, PA, as the son of the late James W. Starner and Louella (Young) Starner.
Grayson graduated from high school and went on to Drexel University to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following his years of service, Grayson worked as a civil engineer designing local highways for many companies. Later on, he became a business owner of a printing shop in Houston, TX. In his spare time, Grayson enjoyed a lifelong passion for flying. He spent many years building and flying gliders. Later, he built and flew ultralights. He loved music and spent his later years teaching himself the harmonica, keyboard, and violin that he built himself. At age 65, he built from a kit a very unique dome house, and he lived in this home in Aspers for 25 years.
Grayson is survived by his daughter, Gretchen Famous, and her husband, Daniel of Norristown, PA; two sons, Robert Starner and his wife, Abi of Lancaster, CA, and David Starner and his wife, Terri of Landisville, PA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, Grayson is preceded in death by his first wife, who passed in 1993, Betsy K. (Van Ness) Starner; second wife who passed in 2003, Rosalyn (Meineker) Starner; companion of many years, Marian Kline; daughter, Nancy Starner; two sisters, Peggy Shugert and Maxine Harris and one brother, Charles Starner.
Professional Services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral and Cremation, Ltd., Bendersville, PA. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Bendersville Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Adams County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Grayson’s memory to a charity of your choice.
