Harold J. Plank, 91, of Gettysburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Born July 8, 1935, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late James & Pearl (Herman) Plank. Harold is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Alminda (Baltozer) Plank. He was a graduate of Gettysburg High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg.
Harold had worked many years as the meat manager at Kennies Market in Gettysburg, Meadow Valley Abattoir, DMI Furniture, Arista Craft Co., and ended his career at Weis Markets in Gettysburg, where he worked for eighteen years.
He loved mowing his grass, thoroughly enjoyed his car rides through the countryside and battlefield, stopping to watch the deer and tending to his favorite cat, Tommy.
Harold is survived by four daughters, Sharon Shirley of Arendtsville, PA, Wanda Witherow of Aspers, PA, Beverly Dillman of York, PA and Crystal Staley of Florence, SC, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, five sisters, Charlotte Clowney of Gettysburg, Treva Bream of Gettysburg, Esther Bigham of Fairfield, PA, Goldie Honeycott of Maryland and Arlene Wisner of East Berlin, PA, two brothers, Harvey Plank of Bonneauville, PA and Nevin Plank of Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.
Harold will be missed by all his family and dear friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lucinda Aaron, and two sisters, Joanne Palmer and Miriam Gilland.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Rev. Libby Baker-Mikesell officiating. Interment will follow the funeral services in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg, with full military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans. A Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
