Obituary: Helen E. Sanders

Helen E. Sanders of Fairfield, PA, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the age of 91.

She was born in Fairfield on August 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Thaddeus & Ethel (Houck) Stultz. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jesse E. Sanders, who died July 29, 2009.

She had worked for more than 20 years at the former Fairfield Graphics Co. Helen enjoyed the outdoors, watching humming birds in her back yard, walking, gardening, planting flowers, weeding and up to a few years ago, mowing her lawn. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and will be missed dearly. She was known for her baking skills, especially the cakes she made for her family.

Helen is survived by four daughters, Debra J. Shockey (John) of Waynesboro, PA, Wanda Sanders (Daniel Shockey) of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Pamela Bowling (Jeffrey) of Fairfield, and Sharon Keller (Mark) of Gettysburg, Pa, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, a sister, Cecilia Hobbs of Fairfield, five brothers, Charles, Lloyd and Jim Stultz all of Fairfield, Ron Stultz of West Virginia and Cecil Stultz of Emmitsburg, MD and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John David Stultz, and four sisters, Jane Stultz, Doris Mallette, Barbara Sanders, and Virginia Swisher.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 East Main St., Fairfield, PA. Burial will follow the services in the Fairfield Union Cemetery. A Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to the services. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Fairfield Fire Co. Social Hall.
