Obituary: James Edward Turner

James Edward Turner, 62, of Littlestown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while traveling in Georgia. He was the loving husband of Tammy (Utz) Turner, with whom he shared nearly 12 years of marriage.

Born October 13, 1963, in Campton, Kentucky, James was the son of the late Burl and Betty (Banks) Turner. His family moved to Littlestown when he was four or five years old, and he remained deeply connected to the community throughout his life. He graduated from Littlestown High School with the Class of 1981.

James spent his career as a truck driver and was a dedicated employee of UPS for 20 years.

Known for his easygoing nature and wonderful sense of humor, James embraced life with laughter and never took himself too seriously. He would go to any lengths to make someone smile and was always ready to offer advice or encouragement. His simple, positive outlook had a remarkable way of making even the most stressful situations seem a little easier.

James treasured family gatherings and picnics and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He also had a special fondness for horses and dogs, especially his beloved dogs, Emily and Skye. Above all, James will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted family man, loyal friend, and the best brother anyone could ask for.

In addition to his wife, Tammy, James is survived by his sons, Brandon Turner of Spring Grove and Ian Turner of Idaho; three grandsons, Mason, Gavin, and Trent Turner; two stepsons, Edward Rider and his wife, Melina, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and Brent Rider of Littlestown; two step-granddaughters, Alina and Angelina; a brother, Danny Turner and his wife, Michele, of Aspers; a sister, Loretta Weaver and her husband, Joe, of Hanover; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and John Turner; and a sister, Lois Turner.

A service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Little’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 34 Maple Ave. Littlestown, PA, with the Rev. Billy Stitely officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Following the graveside, there will be a luncheon at Gates of Praise Worship Center, 226 Kingsdale Road, Littlestown, PA 17340.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Turner, Gavin Turner, Mason Turner, Ian Turner, Tom Falls, Nick Weaver, Eric Turner, and Chris Turner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gates of Praise Worship Center’s Neighbor to Neighbor Fund, 226 Kingsdale Road, Littlestown, PA 17340.
