He was born August 10, 1949 in Gettysburg, PA to the late Anna Grace Shorb.
After graduating high school Jim began working at Musselmanâs in the orchards and eventually began working at Applevale orchards in Biglerville until his retirement. After retirement, Jim worked part time at Jacoby Transportation in Gettysburg. Jim belonged to Adams County, Buchanan Valley, and South Mountain Fish & Game Associations. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved doing both with his grandson, Alex. He also loved his âtherapy dogâ Kairo very much.
Jim is survived by his wife, Faye (Kuykendall) Shorb; his daughter, Peggy Shorb; his grandson, Alex Santana; his great-grandson, Koda Atlas Starr Santana; and his cousin, Betty Martin.
He is predeceased by his daughters, Cindy McDannell, and Amanda Shorb; his son, Michael Shorb; his Aunt Margaret âSissyâ Shorb; and his Uncle John Shorb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA with Rev. Dominic M. DiBiccaro, celebrant. Interment will immediately follow the Mass in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St, Gettysburg, PA beginning at 9:30AM and ending at 10:30AM on the same day, prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to defray funeral expenses.
