Obituary: John E. Coffin



John E. Coffin, 85, Orrtanna, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1939 in Rumney, N.H. the son of the late Lester and Mildred Camp Coffin.

John was a self-employed house painter for most of his career, but later he worked at Gettysburg College in the grounds keeping department. He was instrumental in starting the colony of Purple Martin Birds on the grounds of the college. John and Barbara were members of the Adams County Water Garden Club. He was also a member of the Cashtown Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Coffin is survived by his companion of many years, Barbara Miller, a daughter, Melissa Runk and her husband Robert, a step-daughter, Amy Miller of Stuartfield, Scotland, a daughter-in-law, Stacee Coffin of Hanover, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brothers and sisters; Charles, Mary and Richard. He was predeceased by two sons; Matthew Coffin and Duane Coffin and brothers and sisters, Robert, Myrtle, Marie, Nancy, and twin sister Jeanette.
