John Kenneth McCleaf, 84, peacefully passed away at Somerford House, Frederick, MD, early in the morning on Monday, August 25th.
John was born in Gettysburg, PA, and was the son of the late Lillian Marie (Reinecker) McCleaf and the late David Kenneth McCleaf.

John previously worked at the Gettysburg Shoe Factory, then later worked at State Farm Insurance in Frederick, MD. He also worked at the National Fire Academy Command Post Pub, then later he worked briefly before fully retiring at the Gettysburg Hospital, providing valet parking. He loved all the people he worked with over the years.
His memory will be cherished by his son, Chris McCleaf, and his daughters, Cynthia Schneider and Tracey Vlassopoulos. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his sister.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Sandra McCleaf, his father, David Kenneth McCleaf, his mother, Lillian Marie McCleaf, and his brothers, James McCleaf and Robert McCleaf.
John is survived by his sister, Linda Lochbaum (Bernard) of Cashtown, PA, daughter Cynthia Schneider of Bellefonte, PA, son Chris McCleaf of Bluffton, SC, daughter Tracey Vlassopoulos (Demetrios) of Frederick, MD, grandchildren: Brett McCleaf, Erica Sankey, Justin Schneider (Kate), Ryan Schneider (Irene), Coby McCleaf, Nicholas Vlassopoulos and Alexander Vlassopoulos and many great grandchildren.
John was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan! He was known at Somerford House as always wearing one of his Phillies baseball caps.
His daughter, Tracey, wants to give a special thank you to Somerford House for all the great care and love they gave him! He loved everyone there. They were like a second family to him. Also, a special thank you to Frederick Health Hospice. Their love and caring were a blessing!
Private interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. A Celebration of John’s Life will take place at a later date.
