Joseph L. Showers, age 94 of Biglerville, passed away January 29, 2026, at Hanover Hospital. He was born January 27, 1932, in Adams County to the late Edgar C. and Ruth A. (Wingert) Showers. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne M. (Miller) Showers, and brothers, Reuben C. Showers, Dale Showers, William Showers, and sister, Rosellen Miller.
He is survived by his children: Kathy Jo (Larry) Sassaman, Diane Kay (George) Taughinbaugh, Jennifer Lynn (Robert) Uber, and Joseph Andrew (Sheila) Showers; 8 grandchildren: Kristin, Andrew, Ashton, Tyrel, Mallory, Grant, Dayne, Denton, their spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his sisters, Marie Helm and Dora Sandoe.
He was a surveyor for PennDot, a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of Benders Lutheran Church, and the Ira E. Lady Post 262 American Legion. Joseph enjoyed bowling and softball, and loved coaching softball.
Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street, Bendersville, where the viewing will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Benders Lutheran Church, 1385 Rentzel Road, Biglerville, PA, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11 am. Rev. Ryan Heycock will officiate. Additional viewing will be held from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at the church. Joseph will be laid to rest at Bender’s Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans Ritual Team.
