She was born April 29, 1968 in Hagerstown, MD the daughter of Edwin L. Kennan and Joan of Paw Paw, W. VA. and Patsy Starky of Keyser, W. VA. Joyce is survived by her husband of 9 years, Mitchell L. Gardner, Jr.
For the last 23 years, Joyce was employed as a General Manager for Lab Inventory Systems in Frederick, MD. She enjoyed traveling. Working alongside Mitch to build their dream home. Planting in her garden. She absolutely adored her cat, Skip. She loved being with family and going to family gatherings.
In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by two daughters; Jessica Anderson and her husband Joshua of Washington, Christina Walker and her husband Jesse of Hagerstown, MD, a son, Michael Whetzel and wife Candice of Harrisonburg, VA, an honorary daughter, Amber Coleman of Hagerstown, MD, six grandchildren, two sisters; Ellen Kennan of Keyser, W.VA, Mindy Duncan of Brunswick, MD, and a brother, Robert James of Paw Paw, W. VA. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Joyceâs Life will be held at a later date.
