Obituary: Judith A. Lawrence



Judith A. (Baum) Lawrence, 83, Gettysburg, PA passed away peacefully at her home at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023.

“Judy” was born July 21, 1940 in New Cumberland, PA the eldest child of the late Samuel G. Baum and Pauline I. Albert. Her husband Bob Lawrence died in 2014.

Judy was a 1959 graduate of East Berlin High School where she was a member of the marching band. Judy loved the ocean and lived by it for many years. She was a career waitress until her retirement in 2010. Judy and her husband Bob loved camping and were members of the Northeast Truck Camper Association. They crossed the United States three times and attended truck camper rallies around the country on the way. Judy was an avid member of the South Mountain Bible church and adored her church family.

Mrs. Lawrence is survived by four children; Tamra (Harmon) Baumgardner of New Oxford, PA, Randal Harmon and his wife Virginia of Morehead City, NC, Lane Harmon and his wife Brenda of Thomasville, PA, Todd Harmon of Atlantic Beach, NC, nine beloved grandchildren Stacey Neiderer, Dan Baumgardner, Tashia Baumgardner, Marcus Garrett, Ben Garrett, Jacob Harmon, Jessica Harmon, Tristian Harmon, and Chloe Harmon. 10 great grandchildren Chase, Alexa, Aaliyah, Camden, Carson, Joey, Johnathon, Sophia, Sydney, and Liliana. A brother, James Baum of Gettysburg, PA. She was predeceased by a brother, Glenn “Skip” Baum and a sister, Pennie Helman.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Judy’s Life will take place on January 6, 2024 at 10:30AM at the South Mountain Bible Church located at 11275 S Mountain Rd Fayetteville, PA 17222. Regrettably, I didn’t know Judy well (as she was the neighbor of a friend), but I helped mow her lawn, from time to time, when I was able & “borrowed” a few crucial recipe ingredients from her, a time or two. I enjoyed seeing her outside soaking up the sun amongst her plants, flowers, & bird feeders with her faithful companion by her side.
