June Edith Arnold-Walck “June Bug” 85, of Gettysburg, PA hit her sunset Thursday evening, August 27, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.
Her sunrise was June 6, 1941, in Newport, PA. She is the daughter of the late David S. Arnold and Marion L. (Burns) Hummel. She was preceded in death by her last husband, Paul Walck, Jr.
June was a Gettysburg Wal-Mart Associate for 30 years and would still be working if she could! Prior to that, she waitressed part-time for several years at the Gettysburg Moose and the Fairfield Amvets. She also worked for DMI Furniture in Gettysburg for over eight years. One of her favorite part-time jobs was bartending and waitressing for Julie Gaspar, who owned Julie’s Café on Bridge Street in New Cumberland. She worked for Julie for 15 years. Julie was like a mother to her.
She was a member of the Biglerville American Legion Post 262 and the Fairfield Amvets.
June truly loved life. Her children, grandchildren, and family were her entire world. If one of her kids or grandkids were playing a sport, you could count on her being there—sitting in the stands, cheering the loudest, and making sure they knew just how proud she was. She loved to laugh, play 500 rummy, take trips to the beach and casinos, play tickets at the Legion, and just being surrounded by people. Even when things got tough, she faced every hurdle with positivity, determination, humor, and grace. Anyone who knew her knew she had a personality all her own. She was strong-willed, wonderfully stubborn, a little ornery, and always full of spirit. She could make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and she certainly wasn’t afraid to tell you exactly what she thought. That stubborn streak was part of what made June, “June Bug”—and it provided the incredible strength that carried her through life’s challenges.
June is survived by her four children, Susan Baker (Charles), of Marysville, PA, Vicky Graham Stover, of Fayetteville, PA, Thomas Parson (Brenda), of Duncannon, PA, Christel Fink Gill, of Gettysburg, PA, six grandchildren, Dawn Rollins (Keith), Josh Baker (Sasha), Sheila Landis (Robert), Douglas Graham (Karen), Heather Ressler (Nathan), Brandon Parson (Catie), 18 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and her sister, Doris Messimer, of Newport, PA.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, MSgt. Leisha M. Wagner, her son Richard E. Stoner, and her grandson, Matthew C. Baker.
Funeral services for June will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Memorial Baptist Church, 1096 Biglerville Rd., Gettysburg, PA. Following the service, burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service at the church.
