Obituary: Kenneth E. Wolford, Sr.



enneth E. Wolford, age 81 of Orrtanna, PA passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 25, 2023. Born March 28, 1942 in Cashtown, PA, he was the son of the late Albert & Olive (Pyle) Wolford. Ken is survived by his wife of fifty- four years, Edna M. (Cool) Wolford. He was a 1960 graduate of Fairfield High School and enlisted in the U. S. Army following graduation. Ken proudly served the Army for three years obtaining the rank of Specialist E-5 before his honorable discharge in 1963. He had been employed for thirty-three years with Schindler Elevator Corp. before his retirement in 2002. Ken was a life member and past commander of the Fairfield AMVETS Post 172, past AMVETS National Commander, past Pennsylvania State Commander and had held a number of positions at the AMVETS state and national levels. He was a member and past commander of the Adams County Allied Veterans Council, life member of American Legion Post #202 in Gettysburg, Fairfield Volunteer Fire Co., a charter member of the Fairfield AMVETS Community Ambulance Service and a member of the Blue Ridge Sportsmen’s Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Kenneth E. Wolford, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Crystal McKinney of Gettysburg, PA, Brenda Wolfe (Dickie) of Waynesboro, PA and Dawn Becker (Gregory) of East Berlin, PA, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Dave Wolford (Dot) of Spring Grove, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by two brothers, Albert “Buzz” Wolford and Robert “Woody” Wolford and three sisters, Katherine Moose, Helen Raffensperger and Phyllis Noble. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. Viewing hours will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Following the funeral services on Saturday, the Adams County Allied Veterans will present full military honors. Interment will be private. Online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfun
