Obituary: Linda A. Utz

Linda A. Utz, 81, of Gettysburg, PA, died Tuesday evening, June 17, 2025, at the Gettysburg Hospital.

Born April 18, 1944, in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gray and Mary (Swope) McCleaf. She was the loving wife to J. Richard (Dick) Utz, Jr. of Gettysburg to whom she was married to for 63 years.

Linda graduated from Gettysburg Area High School in 1962, where she was also a cheerleader in various sports. She was a life member of St. James Lutheran Church. In her earlier years, she worked as a waitress at the Lincoln Logs. She worked for the FCC and then retired after over 30 years of service in the licensing/radio department. She was a member of the Recycled Teenagers, where she enjoyed Thursday breakfast, playing cards, and trips with the other members. She also loved going on cruises, playing bingo, going to the casino, attending concerts, watching her Philadelphia Eagles, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Linda is survived by her three children, Joseph R. Utz, III and his wife Melissa, of Fairfield, PA, Karen Martin and her husband John, of Gettysburg, PA, Robert Utz, of Gettysburg, PA, her three grandchildren, Jessica Nicholas, Joseph Martin, James Downs, and her four great grandchildren, Junith, Juliana, Nashton, and Jaynalyn. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald McCleaf, and her sister, Wanda Allender.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St., Gettysburg, PA. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the services on Tuesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Adams County SPCA or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
