Obituary: Lois M. Kuykendall

Lois Kuykendall, 83, of Gardners, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at The Gardens of Gettysburg.

She was born on October 15, 1942, in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Paul Abraham Shaffer and Dora (Trump) Shaffer. Lois is survived by her three daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Lois was a member of the Idaville United Brethren Church. She graduated from Biglerville High School in 1960. Following high school, Lois worked at Musselman’s Apple Plant and Knouse Fruit Plant. Lois then began working for the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk for many years.

Lois is survived by three daughters, Debra Hankey and her husband, Dennis, of Gettysburg, Brenda Cressler and her husband, Jeff, of Aspers, and Tracy Troutman and her husband, Bob, of Gardners; five grandchildren, Jordan Cressler and wife Krystal, Elizabeth Aldinger, Brittany Cressler, Jon Troutman, and Jennie Troutman; and five great-grandchildren, Collin Cressler, Cassie Cressler, Hunter Gross, Audrey Aldinger, and Reagan Sistrunk. Nothing was more important to Lois than family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kuykendall, who passed away on March 3, 2026.

Professional services have been entrusted to Dugan Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 111 S. Main Street in Bendersville. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forever Love Rescue in Gettysburg.
