Obituary: Louis E. Hilker

Louis E. Hilker, 90, of Hanover, PA, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Hanover Hall. He was the husband of the late Miriam A. (Messinger) Hilker. Together they shared 47 years of marriage at the time of her death.

Born December 29, 1934, on the family farm west of Hanover, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Delta G. (Good) Hilker. He was baptized and confirmed at Old Christ Reformed Church in Union Township and was a 1953 graduate of Littlestown High School.

Louis served in the U.S. Army/Pennsylvania. Nat’l. Guard, worked as an auto mechanic, and retired from Hadco in Littlestown. Having grown up on the farm, he enjoyed studying the history of John Deere tractors and farming implements.

He is survived by his son, Scott, at home, and four daughters, Darla Kise and husband Bob, Lebanon, PA; Karen Leaman and husband Ken, Allen, TX; Lorraine Lauer and husband Tracy, York, PA; and Diane Meckley and husband Jerry, Abbottstown, PA; four brothers, Raymond Hilker, William Hilker, and James Hilker, all of Hanover, PA; and David Hilker, Littlestown, PA; sister Nancy Rohrbaugh of Gettysburg, PA; sister-in-law, Gloria Hilker of Hanover, PA; six grandchildren, Laura, Bethany, Zackery, Alex, Kristen, and Amber; and one great-granddaughter, Neriah.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Ken and Dean.

A viewing for Louis Hilker will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Little’s Funeral Home, 34 Maple Avenue, Littlestown, PA 17340.

The family will also be receiving guests at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Little’s Funeral Home, with a service to follow in the funeral home at 11:00 AM to celebrate the life of Louis Hilker; Gary Grecco of YFC officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service, at Christ United Church of Christ Cemetery, 131 Christ Church Road, Littlestown.
