argaret L. Orner, 88 of Fairfield, PA passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home. Born in Gettysburg, PA on August 5, 1935, she was the daughter of the late J. Harry & Mary (Lowe) Kane. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Orner, Sr., who died in 1993. She was a lifelong resident of Fairfield, an active member of St. Maryâs Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and a life member of the Fairfield Fire Co. Margaret served as a teacherâs aide to the kindergarten classes of the Fairfield School District for 25 years. She is survived by her 5 children, Richard L. Orner, Jr. (Patricia) of Oreland, PA, Julia Shelton (LeRoy) of Fairfield, Cynthia Marthers of Fairfield, Timothy Orner (Lita) of Waynesboro, PA and Laura Smith of Fairfield, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, three sisters, Elizabeth âBettyâ Roy of El Paso, TX, Lorraine Welcomer and Donna Weikert both of Fairfield. Margaret was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Kane and a son-in-law, Douglas Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at St. Maryâs Catholic Church, 256 Tract Road, Fairfield with Fr. Peter DiTomasso, Celebrant. Viewing hours will be on Wednesday, June 19 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield and on Thursday at the church from 9:00-10:00 AM. A private interment for the family will be held in St. Maryâs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fairfield Fire Co., 106 Steelman Street, Fairfield, PA 17320.
