She was born, August 4th, 1924 at home near Orrtanna, PA the daughter of the late Roy A. Mickley and Ester V. Mickley (Bittinger).
She was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd E. Benner (1984). In addition to being a homemaker, she was a member of the Carroll Tract Advisory Council, a division of the PA Farm Bureau. She worked in the orchard business, El Vista Orchards, with her husband, sons, and grandsons.
She was a member of the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church. She served on the Adams County Apple Queen Program. She enjoyed gardening, reading, word finds, and especially Rummikub.
She is survived by three sons, Dave and wife Pam of Fairfield, Rodger and partner Cathy Aker of Gettysburg, Jim and wife Bev of Fairfield. Grandchildren include Tammy Carbaugh (Rich) of Chambersburg, Karen Benner (Billy) of Pittsburgh, Angie Patterson (Adam) of Frostburg MD, David Benner II (Lindsey) of Orrtanna, Kyle Benner (Kelli) of Fairfield, Michelle Liller (Jack) of Fairfield, Adam Benner (Brandy) of Lewiston ID, Courtney Picarelli (Ryan) of Orrtanna, Becky Carr (Pat) of Gettysburg, Elizabeth Smith (Joe) of Pittsburgh, 20 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, along with many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Janet Hostetter, Mary Deveney, Betty Mickley, and Sara Sandoe and brothers Ken Mickley and Curvin Mickley.
The family thanks the caregivers of Genesis Gettysburg Center for providing excellent care to Peggy.
Services will be held April 28th, at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church at 3 pm, the viewing will be one hour prior to the service. The burial will be private at a later date.
