Margaret “Peggy” E. Raffensperger, 85, of Orrtanna, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg. Born April 10, 1941, in Wenksville, she was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Martha Kelner Raffensperger and the wife of the late William Johnson.
Raffensperger worked in the scales office at Musselman’s in Gardners and later served as head bookkeeper at Agway Petroleum in Gettysburg. She also co-owned the East Side Lounge and Restaurant on York Road. In retirement, she volunteered at Transitions Healthcare and the Village of Laurel Run, helping residents get to hair appointments.
She is survived by a daughter, Roxey Johnson-Baker and fiancé Samuel Steckline; companion Edwin Baker; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Johnson Mills.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, followed by the funeral service at noon. Burial will be in Biglerville Cemetery. Read the complete funeral-home obituary and condolences page.
