Maybell “Mary” Staton, age 77, of Gettysburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Gettysburg. She was born June 29, 1947, in Arlington, Virginia, as the daughter of the late William Henry Harrison and Beulah (Minnick) Monroe.
Maybell attended Gaithersburg High School in Maryland. She worked at Wal-Mart in Gettysburg as a clerk for over 20 years. Maybell loved her family. In her spare time, Maybell enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with her grandkids.
Maybell is survived by three children, Laura Rexroth and her husband, Will of Fayetteville, Lisa McKinsey and her husband, Matt of Gettysburg and Russell Staton, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Gettysburg; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three siblings, William Monroe of Biglerville, Gloria Henderson of Gettysburg and Earl Monroe and his wife, Sheila of New Oxford and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maybell was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Ray Monroe.
